Macaroon Monday
It was a beautiful morning. It was the perfect temperature in NYC but something smelled different. I looked up, and I saw donuts, cookies, cupcakes, and more. Okay. Then I just stood there in disbelief. Then I stopped and ran as fast as I could, go. Then— My feet skidded to a stop. I knocked. On my neighbor’s door. She answered. Then I told her everything. Me and Sophia ran up to the roof of the building. We, together, grabbed a floating treat and took a big bite. Then Sophia noticed that the bakery was closed. Then the biggest macaroon just floated down. We ran to the National Weather Service. and asked if they knew anything but they said “no.” We asked everyone, but nobody knew. Then we decided we needed a picnic. When we were done eating, we laid down and stared up at the sky. The I noticed this time there was an airplane with a sign that said “Happy Treat Day.” Sophia and I were so surprised I dropped my hotdog. I never knew it was a holiday. But still, where did all the goodies come from? Then I remembered the closed bakery. Did it have something to do with it? I have to know more. We went back home to ask our parents for answers. But we came to zero. We went to the cafe. We knocked at the door and asked “What’s going on?” and he said he knew what was going on. We asked him to tell us, but he said “I can’t tell you until 4:30.” He passed us a note and said it was a clue. The note said “The next clue is at the same place that Sophia’s parents got married.” Then Sophia shouted “I remember where that is!” Then we ran off. The next clue said “The final clue is near the donut shop.” The noted was hard to find, but we found it. The final note said “Check the time” and the time was 4:30. So we asked the guy at the cafe. He said the answer was the cafe needed something special that no other store had so they made giant pastries and packed them in an airplane and dropped them down, and to their amazement, they floated! I said “Really?” He said “Really!” So now it happens every year!
